The Indisputable Power of Vision – 5

By: Idede Oseyande

“The boldness to visualise and speak about your vision is the first step to achieving it”.

After graduation from the University over a decade ago, I was trying to draft a business proposal for a Water Processing and Packaging company. A female friend of mine came visiting and saw the proposal; she shouted, “where do you plan to get that kind of money? You nor go put your hand for where e reach and start small”.

I was puzzled. It was more shocking because the proposal was the lowest price possible.

If I tell you the amount in the proposal, you will ask me how she got into my circle in the first place.

So Elijah asked his servant, Elisha, what he wanted before they get eternally separated.

And Elisha without mincing words replied, “I want a double portion of your spirit”!

Even Jesus Christ admonished his disciples while he was with them that it is enough for a servant to be equal to the master.

That is if Elisha had requested to have an equal anointing with his master Elijah, that alone is high ambition, going by the teachings of Christ.

But for Elisha, who wanted to have a place in history outside the shadows of the great legacies Elijah was leaving behind, knew that he would have to do twice as much as his master has done to be able to match up.

It was from that perspective that he requested a double portion!

Even Elijah had to acknowledge the fact that it was not a common aspiration. And for anyone to attain such a laudable and unconventional vision, you must be laser-focused.

Without a second thought, Elijah spelt out the condition to have his request granted.

“And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.”

Elisha followed the instructions and ensured he saw him when he was taken up. He passed the tests and his request was granted.

Do you know that, about five years later, I got a call late one night from a strange number, and when I picked up it was that girl I spoke about earlier? She was lamenting about her abusive relationship.

When I saw that she was blurring my visions with her negative vibes, I cut her off. She attracted the negative visions she desired and ended up in an abusive relationship.

When you are too scared to dare for the best, you end up getting crumbs.

There are too many hands chasing success for it to come and fall on someone by accident who doesn’t desire it.

Success never happens by accident. Never be scared to declare your vision no matter how high it might sound. It is your vision, desire it.
