Ex-President of Ambrose Alli University, Students’ Union Government, Shares Palliatives for Selected Residents in Edo State
Comrade Ambassador Aigbokhan, a one-time President of the prestigious and ever dynamic Students Union Government, of the foremost state university in the Southern region of Nigeria, penultimate week partnered with Social Watch Dog to share palliatives for 35 residents of Edo state.
When he reached out to ‘Social Watch Dog- Nigeria’, to help get people who really needed the palliative, we had our reservations considering the eyesore the political class had been sharing in the name of palliatives. But we gave him a benefit of the doubt, considering his pedigree and his love for the masses.
The project which was targeted for just twenty persons grew to thirty-five, no thanks to the deluge of families going through tough financial crisis due to the lockdown. By the time the budgeted foodstuff was supplied, the list had already overshot its initial target. And without compromising the quantity of items to be shared, Comrade Ambassador, in his generosity, ordered that the food items be disbursed like that, while the additional beneficiaries should be given five thousand Naira each, which he made available without complaining about the additional burden.
In his words, “I really wish we could do more. Food is not something anyone should be deprived of, not even one’s enemies”.
Interestingly, many of the beneficiaries don’t even know him in person. Some of them were asking our contact persons if it was from the government at any levels. And they were astonished hearing that the giver is not even in the country at the moment.
The widows, retirees, artisans, which were the priority of the project could not curtail their joy as they showered prayers and praises for him.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, we say thank you very much for all that you are doing. We recall how you also bought books from us (Socialwatchdog.ng) to be shared for readers and book lovers in December last year.
Posterity will remember you for good.
God bless you very much, sir.
We wish other privileged and well-meaning Nigerians would follow suit!
