Chaos Is A Ladder!
(Lessons From Game of Thrones)
“Chaos is not an evil that should be stopped, but a ladder that should be climbed” ~ Lord petyr Baelish #GOT
From general knowledge, I have always known that all conditions in life bring different result to different people. In times of war, those selling ammunition pray the war last forever, while those being killed by the weapons pray the war comes to an abrupt end. What I have never realised is that someone can instigate, and ignite a war that would cost wanton waste of lives and properties, just because of what he or she stands to gain.
In the TV Series, #Game of Thrones, Lord Petyr Baelish was asked if he doesn’t want peace in the kingdom? He said he was not interested in peace and that chaos was a ladder. I was shocked. After seeing the complete series, you will realise that aside from the army of the dead, almost every other chaos in the realm was instigated by this man. He ignites trouble and then comes with his counsel to proffer solution.
This makes me start giving the stories that accompanied the insecurity in the country, a serious thought. We have read reports accusing certain interest bloc of sponsoring restiveness and unrest due to their personal financial gains. As inhuman as it might sound, it is the bitter truth. Even in smaller organisations, there are people that widens the rift between two parties in other for them to take advantage of the situation. They whisper to both sides, ensuring they tear apart any shred of reconciliation.
A good case study is the current political feud between the immediate past Governor of Edo state and his successor. Those that hope to profit from the feud are doing all it takes to keep the battle raging.
As individuals, we must learn to act circumspectly, and address issues beyond the face value. Humans can be very subtle, but with a little inquisition, you can smoke their intentions out.
Before you take that counsel, always appraise it with this simple code: “who will this decision benefit the most? Or, who will it affect the most?”.
Don’t be a pawn in someone else chess game!
Be wise, be vigilant, be smart!
