Can You Stoop To Conquer?
“She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even dogs are allowed to eat the scraps that fall beneath their masters’ table”.” ~ Matt 15:27
One skill aspiring achievers must have is the ability to stoop low, so as to get what they want. History is filled with reports of men and women who could not attain the pinnacle of #success because of #over-bloated ego and self-worth.
Who would have assumed that #Jesus Christ of all people would turn down the request of a #distressed woman, and even added sore to injury by comparing her to a dog 🐕!
If that woman had allowed #ego to block her sense of reasoning, she would have given up, and even swore never to have anything to do with Jesus Christ. But instead, she replied calmly and with courtesy, “I agree, helping me is like throwing food meant for children to the dogs, but don’t the dogs eat the crumbs that fall off from the table?”.
Even the devil would have been touched at her response.
Now, that response did not only give her what she wanted, it also gave her a recommendation. That’s why we are reading about her faith today!
When you hear them say a particular person is very loyal, go and find out, he has mastered the art of stooping to conquer. Loyal people are not loyal for nothing sake, it is in pursuit of a set goal.
A man loyal to his ambition would pay any price to achieve it.
That woman could have been angry over the ‘humiliation’. She could have felt insulted because of her bloodline, a descendant of a royal lineage. She could have felt the treatment was inhuman, comparing a whole human being to an animal. But she shoved all that aside and kept her gaze on the goal; healing for her devil-possessed daughter.
That job that is belittling that you turned down, might be all you needed to get access to the person that will take you up.
That assignment that you felt was a slap to your face, would have given you leverage to demand something tangible from your mentor or role model.
It would have placed a moral obligation on your superior to help you succeed, but ego and overblown self-esteem became your own undoing.
Learn to keep your focus on the bigger picture!
Always #stoop to #conquer!
To your success!
